away, making getting the wireless version rather pointless. For the trackball to work properly, you have to put it on about the same level as the USB wireless radio transmitter & no more than about 1 1/2 ft. The software works ok, the problem is in the wireless reception.
KENSINGTON TRACKBALLWORKS FOR MAC UPGRADE
Well the upgrade to this one was a big disappointment. I had been using a Kensington 2 button trackball before this & after OSX came out, Kensington finally got their software working well & I was pretty satisfied with it. I bought this because of all the rave reviews of the original Kensington Trackball (Metal housing/ADB). Still, an LED or some other form of harware low-battery indicator would be useful. If the battery is low, an alert box will pop up. UPDATE: The latest versions of MouseWorks software have the ability to check the battery level in the Turbo Mouse Pro.
KENSINGTON TRACKBALLWORKS FOR MAC MAC OS
OS X version of MouseWorks software still lacks some of the features of the original Mac OS 8 & 9 versions. Smooth and precise tracking.Ĭons: Large and awkward at first. Pros: Flexible, easy to use, programmable. However, once you become accustomed to the feel and operation, you won't want to go back to a traditional mouse. If you have never used a track ball before, this can take some getting used to. These buttons can be programmed to launch any application or jump to a favorite web page. There are also six programmable buttons lining the top portion of the Turbo Mouse Pro. The four buttons surrounding the ball itself are for mouse click and dragging options and can be customized to suit your needs. There are a total of ten buttons and a scroll-wheel.

I have since downloaded a few different updates and it works fine with Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther). The version I received with mine was still beta.
KENSINGTON TRACKBALLWORKS FOR MAC UPDATE
You will probably need to download an update from the Kensington web site. Kensington has also been working on the MouseWorks software. Also, check periodically to see the batteries are sufficiently charged. If you are going to leave your Turbo Mouse unused for more than a few days, you should probably remove the batteries. (There is a two-position channel selector, in case of radio interference.) Make sure the channel-select switch is set to the same position on both the receiver and the Turbo Mouse. Connect the wireless receiver to a free USB port on your Mac.
KENSINGTON TRACKBALLWORKS FOR MAC PRO
If you want to sit across the room, the Turbo Mouse Pro Wireless may not be the answer. You need to keep the main trackball unit within a reasonable distance of the wireless receiver (within six feet, according to the manufacturer.) If you merely want to eliminate the wire, this is great. The wireless version works, for me, as well as a wired version, but with more flexibility. The Turbo Mouse Pro Wireless is similar to the older Turbo Mouse, but has some new features to bring it up-to-date. I don't think any mouse has ever been made to compare with the functionality of this one. So give it 5 stars if you can find a new one, get SteerMouse, & use it with a Mac.

A used one may have backlash, stalling-do nothing, & jumping. A new in box item (if you can find one, since it probably hasn't been made for 10 years as of 2015), is going to have a much better scroll wheel than a used one. It is then a great mouse for Mac.ĥ) The scroll wheel is lousy. After having bought 6 of this sort of trackball & much research I have come to these conclusions:ġ) Kensington does not mention on site or support this trackball.Ģ) To do everything it should (including website favorites & dual button programming (press 2 buttons at once for a function), you need MouseWorks & a computer with an old OS (like Windows 98 / XP or Mac Tiger).ģ) For a newer windows machine, mostly it will only work as a regular trackball without all the special buttons.Ĥ) For a newer Mac, you can use a $20 program SteerMouse & then program the 11 buttons for many, many chosen functions.
